9/20/09 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Sunday

Today we had my Grandpa's 80th birthday party at our house.  Seeing how healthy my Grandpa is reminded me of why I am doing these blogs and trying to eat healthy.  He is doing AMAZINGLY WELL for an 80 year old man.  He plays tennis several times a week and he is a real estate agent and loves it.  He walks his dog every morning and drives up every other month to see his son two hours away who cannot drive.  I'm so proud of him.  Not only is he physically healthy but mentally as well.  He is constantly reading and staying current in today's affairs.  He motivates me to be a better person and challenge myself to continue to grow mentally and physically.  I can only hope one day that my husband and I are as in love as my grandparents as we grow old together.  My Mom and aunt made a DVD of his life through the years thus far.  It was so cool because I felt like I learned more about him just from the pictures.

Here's the real question...are you wondering if I had any birthday cake?  Usually I have none but I had a bite to satisfy my dessert craving.  Bummer, that means no snack for me tonight.  That would also be because I snacked on a few baked pita's with jalapeno artichoke dip before dinner and unfortunately that's my snack for this evening.  :(  But, the cake was good and I'm glad I was able to taste it!
