It is incredible the long list of things that books, the internet, and doctors say you cannot ingest once you are pregnant. The internet is a wonderful thing but it certainly can freak a person out with all the "self-diagnosing" one can do. I have had horrible allergies over the past week. From the beginning of my pregnancy the doctor allowed me to take Mucinex and Nasonex because I have really bad allergies. In fact, I was almost done with two years worth of allergy shots and haven't had a sinus infection this whole time. I would've been finished this July but instead, once I found out I was pregnant I wasn't allowed to continue. Bummer - I was so close to hopefully being rid of these horrible infections and allergies! Another joy of pregnancy is that even if you did take shots and completed them while you're pregnant your sinuses may suffer. Some women's allergies get worse due to all the membranes that are increasing with mucous from the hormones as the body prepares for the delivery. Ah, of course, I am now experiencing these wonderful symptoms! I've had a horrible cough that keeps me up at night and it seems I can't really take anything for it. My husband happened to come home with Mucinex D on Sunday and I just assumed it would be ok if Mucinex was. Of course, I come to discover this morning that Mucinex D is not allowed when you're pregnant. Sweet, I have been taking it for two days now. I'm pretty sure my doctor loves me and all the frantic phone calls I make! But, I need to be sure the D medicine didn't mess anything up!
