6/29/15 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Wednesday

Develop a schedule for your meals.  You don't have to stick to it adherently but if you can try to eat around those times everyday it will help you remember when to eat all of your meals and snacks without ever going completely hungry.  Again, obviously things come up, when we go out to eat with others or a commitment runs long you're going to eat later than you normally would.  I'll put times on my daily food journal today just so you can get an idea of what I mean.

Developing a schedule for my meals was one of my hardest challenges from the time I was 15 to 25.  This was the time in my life where I was a server.  Even though I started teaching at 23 I served for the next two years to make extra money.  I started as a server in a retirement community and then went on to serve at Don Pablos, a country club, and Blue Ash Chili.  Serving is the WORST way to help tackle a weight issue - especially if you work a double.  Serving almost always means you work right through the lunch or dinner hour.  This means when your shift if over you're starving.  I got free food from the places I worked at and I had no idea how to eat healthy.  I would think it meant to starve yourself and I would limit my meal to only one roll dipped in ranch or some oyster crackers dipped in chili.  Being around all this delicious food made it extremely hard.  Many nights I worked from 4 until 1 in the morning and got to eat a quick bite at 9 pm.  It was awful.

So make it a point to travel with a protein bar, fruit, or veggie if you know you can't get to your actual meal for awhile.
