I absolutely love to go down south and eat a ton of seafood! This is when it's the most fresh and it tastes delicious! In fact, the American Heart Association recommends that you eat fish at least twice a week. I want to try and do this once I go back on maintenance. What are some low-fat types of fish to order? White fish has the least amount of calories. But, AHA would like Americans to eat at least one oily fish a week to help your heart because of the Omega-3 fatty acids. The key is to read how it is prepared. Grilled or even sauteed is OK. Herbs, lemon or fruit juice, broiled, or steamed are good choices for fish as well. It's when the fish is fried or doused in butter or a cream sauce. Make sure to ask your server to eliminate oil and butter.
